Majid Hashemi

Senior Associate

Majid Hashemi is a Senior Associate at Limestone Analytics and an adjunct faculty at Queen’s University Department of Economics. Majid’s professional experience includes a combination of academic and consulting experience across different sectors, including environment, energy, transportation, agriculture, and health.

Before joining Limestone, Majid was a postdoctoral fellow at Queen’s University, leading a federally-funded project to evaluate renewable energy support programs in Ontario, Canada. His postdoctoral research has been published in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews and the Journal of Benefit-Cost Analysis. In addition to his academic career, he has extensive consulting and capacity-building experience with international development organizations such as the World Bank and USAID, as well as the governments of Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Senegal, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Nepal, and Vietnam.

His Ph.D. research has been recognized by two prestigious awards: the Outstanding Dissertation Award by the Society for Benefit-Cost Analysis in 2022 and Clemson University’s College of Business Outstanding Graduate Research in 2021. His work is published in leading energy economics journals such as Energy Economics, Utilities Policy, and Energy for Sustainable Development. Energy Economics selected one of his papers for their special edition on the causes and consequences of outages.
