Project: Project Looking Glass

The proposed project seeks to create a decision support platform that will enable decision-makers to assess risk and quantify how policies such as physical distancing measures, closing and re-opening of schools and businesses, widespread testing, and contact tracing campaigns might impact public health and economies at the community level. The objective is to inform the design of optimal COVID-19 mitigation, relief and recovery measures and public health interventions.

Working alongside several partner organizations, Limestone’s contribution to this platform involves modelling economic downturn and recovery scenarios. The model will provide the basis for assessing economic vulnerabilities and resilience based on both the industrial composition and demographic breakdown within communities (with consideration given to key subgroups differentiated by gender, indigeneity, age, education, income, and labour force status).
