Project: Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) Strategic Review

The PNG-Australia Joint Statement of Intent on technical vocational education and training (TVET) sets out the shared commitment between the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) and Government of Australia (GoA) to expand support for TVET in PNG and to increase the number of skilled workers to meet domestic demand from industry and to take up labour mobility opportunities. To understand the progress of Australia’s cooperation with PNG in TVET and examine the current approaches, DFAT commissioned an independent strategic review of DFAT’s portfolio of support to PNG in TVET. The hope is that the review will inform DFAT’s next phase of support, including alignment with Papua New Guinea’s and Australia’s priorities (including regional priorities).

The strategic review is being led by Adam Smith International through the Human Development Monitoring and Evaluation Services (HDMES) contract. Adam Smith International contracted Limestone to provide ongoing quality assurance support throughout the strategic review including refining the methodology, reviewing outputs, and developing visuals.
